Custom Storage Tanks
After installation, fill the system and run at operating
temperature for at least one day in a closed loop mode.
Then drain system, and refill.
The tank should be installed in such a manner that
should the tank or any connections leak, the resulting
flow of water will not cause damage.
Glass Lined Vessels:
Anodes should be checked and cleaned every six
months. Should their diameter be reduced by 20% or
more, they should be replaced.
LAARS Heating Systems supplies 25 grams of anode
per square foot of tank area.
Replacement anode rods are available from LAARS
Heating Systems. Please specify tank size when ordering.
Incorrect installation can cause failure of storage tanks due to electrolysis. The storage tank must be installed using
dielectric connections and isolation of the tank supports and other tank components from conductive materials.
Regular anode inspection and replacement is required. Damage due to incorrect installation or lack of anode
maintenance is not covered under the limited warranty. For assistance, please call 805-579-5200.
Manway Installation:
NOTE: Not all tanks are equipped with a manway.
LAARS manufacturers under the ASME code HLW
section of the ASME code, in which a manway is not
required. If your vessel has a manway, please follow
these procedures:
Manway covers and gaskets are shipped in place so
they will not be lost in shipment. The bolts are NOT
tightened, so be sure to check for shifting of the gasket
due to vibration in transit.
The bolts are not tightened completely so that the
tank can be opened and cleaned and inspected prior to
service. Once the manway bolts are fully torqued, the
gasket cannot be reused.
For final assembly of the manway, the gasket must
cover the surface of the ring 100% and project slightly
on each side of the ring. The bolts should be tightened
before the tank has been pressurized and then re-
tightened when the tank is at operating pressure.
DO NOT use adhesives, glues, epoxies, or other
such materials to secure the gasket in place. Use only
the gasket that was supplied with the manway. If
additional gaskets are required, or a replacement is
needed, please contact LAARS Heating Systems.
